This was a 2 day overnight camping trip at Sancha lake, south of Chengdu
5/18 The four of us met at my place while a few others who weren’t biking took their motorcycles or cars to get to the camping spot. Its about 90 kms to the lake over a mountain which is a little exhausting so we started most of the way up the mountain near Taiping. We continued up the mountain and over to the other side which had some nice views and then down the mountain to the north end of the lake. One of the girls fell but was luckily able to continue.
It was raining when we begin to arrive at the lake. Luckily there were tarps already set up. The guy in the house next door had set up the area to allow us to camp and he also had grills we could use that he started by the time we got there.
I tried using a pizza stone for the first time on a grill. Unfortunately it eventually did crack but we were able to make four pizzas and some other food. It rained a bit but we were under the tarps so it wasn’t a problem.
5/19 We took a ferry to the other side of the lake and had a nice fish for lunch. Then 2 of us took the more difficult route over the mountain, which took about an hour and then down to Taiping and the other two went up and through the tunnel which was easier but less scenic. We then ordered the transportation to send us back to my area in the late afternoon.
